About
What is the Be a Hero Challenge?
The Be a Hero challenge is held each September to raise urgently needed funds for Spinal Cord Injuries Australia’s NeuroMoves, our exercise and therapy service that helps people with disability to achieve their health, mobility and independence goals.
This year we are asking participants to complete 30 minutes of their chosen activity each day, for 30 days during the month of September.
What are the dates?
- The Be a Hero Challenge starts on the 1st of September and finishes on the 30th of September.
- Registration will be open in July and will stay open until the 15th of September.
- You can start fundraising as soon as you sign up until the 31st of October.
Why 30 minutes of any activity?
Research shows that as little as 30 minutes of exercise per day can boost our general health and well-being. For a lot of us, completing 30 minutes of exercise a day, for 30 days straight can be a real challenge. If your goal is to do more than 30 minutes a day, than set yourself that challenge. It's all for a good cause!
We wanted to keep the option to choose your own activity open, as everyone has different abilities, or may prefer to do a mix rather than one singular activity throughout the challenge.
Does it cost to register?
There is no registration fee for SCIA's Be a Hero challenge.

How can I fundraise?
We have lots of fundraising tips which you can find under 'Fundraising Toolkit ' when you log into the website. We'll also send you emails with tips and tricks on how to smash the fundraising challenge, and have fun at the same time!
One of the easiest ways to start fundraising is to jump onto your fundraising page, under, "share your page", you can select one of the icons to take you straight to the right place to share your link.
You can also copy your participant page URL, and paste it in Twitter, Facebook, Email or SMS, to send it in a way of your choice.
Note: If you are prompted to create a Facebook Fundraiser when sharing your Fundraising Page on Facebook, we would recommend you do not proceed with this as we can't connect these donations with your personal fundraising page.
